Wallaceburg residents are being urged to purchase a Sydenham District Memorial Hospital Corporation membership to help decide what the future of health care in the area will look like.

Membership allows you to vote for who will represent the hospital on its board of directors. The board then elects members to represent the hospital at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance’s Tri-Board meetings, where local health care initiatives and plans are discussed.

“We’ve gone on long enough fighting for the services we have in Wallaceburg and I think the time has come for all of us to turn our attention to what the long-term solution is here,” says Wallaceburg Councillor Jeff Wesley. “Members of the corporation are like shareholders, if they pay a $10 fee they can vote.”

Memberships must be purchased by March 31. The vote will take place on June 26 at the Sydenham District Memorial Hospital Annual General Meeting. You can visit the municipal building in Wallaceburg to purchase a membership.
