Olympian Talks Mental Health
Canadian Olympian Clara Hughes is speaking in Chatham-Kent.
The 41-year-old speedskater and cyclist is biking across Canada for 110 days, visiting 95 communities and over 80 schools to speak about depression and mental health issues. Hughes will greet a crowd of over 700 at the John D. Bradley Convention Centre in Chatham tonight.
“Society can be better and I believe that we all have a role to play,” says Organizer and Chair Person of Make Children Better Now Mike Neuts. “Hopefully (this event) will add positive influences and bring more awareness and help to help people with mental health issues.”
Hughes will be stopping at Ursuline College in Chatham on Monday to speak with students.
