Minor increase in London area COVID-19 hospitalizations

The London Health Sciences Centre confirmed 24 inpatients with the virus are currently in its care, an increase of one since Thursday.

There was no change in the number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 in the London region on Thursday.

Part of the change means the health unit will provide weekly COVID-19 updates every Wednesday, down from three updates a week, starting June 1.

The London Health Sciences Centre reported 23 patients with COVID-19 in its care on Wednesday, down ten from the previous day.

There has not been a rise in the COVID-19 death toll in the London area in nearly one week.

Lambton Public Health reported just over a dozen new cases of COVID-19 since Friday.

The London Health Sciences Centre confirmed 40 inpatients with the virus are currently in its care, an increase of five since Thursday.

In its update Friday, Lambton Public Health reported the daily average number of cases over seven days is six, down from nine a week ago.

The London Health Sciences Centre confirmed it has 35 inpatients with the virus in its care, including six who are listed in the intensive care unit.

The Middlesex London Health Unit confirmed on Wednesday two men in their 80s are the latest people in the region to succumb to the virus.
