Total Receipts, 1917 cattle 724 lambs & goats
Summary Tuesday Fed cattle traded on a good steady market. Choice strs & hfrs $148.00-158.00 with a high of $164.00, second cut $143.00-147.00 Cows sold on a strong active trade at higher prices.
Thursday Beef veal calves sold $1-$2 higher while Holstein calves traded slightly stronger with an increased demand this week.
Lambs sold on a good active trade. Sheep sold barely steady. Kid goats sold on a good active trade at higher prices. Light milk fed kid goats sold 280.00 – 330.00.
Friday All classes of cattle traded on a very strong market at prices $2 – $3 higher.
Steers
William Pentland of Goderich consigned one char steer that weighed 1495 lbs and sold to Horizon Meat Packers for 157.00.
William McWhinney of Goderich consigned three steers that averaged 1642 lbs and sold for an average price of 146.30. One char steer weighed 1520 lbs and sold to Horizon Meat Packers for 155.25.
Terry Murray of Clifford consigned seven steers that averaged 1469 lbs and sold for an average price of 148.57. One simm steer weighed 1555 lbs and sold to Horizon Meat Packers for 151.25.
Heifers
Dave and Karen Bowles of Brussels consigned five heifers that averaged 1346 lbs and sold for an average price of 153.91. One black heifer weighed 1435 lbs and sold to Horizon Meat Packers for 159.50.
Arthur Hinz & Sons Ltd of Monkton consigned six heifers that averaged 1299 lbs and sold for an average price of 146.34. One limo heifer weighed 1415 lbs and sold to Horizon Meat Packers for 155.00.
