GBFW virtual attendance in the hundreds

Grey Bruce Farmers’ Week organizers are happy with the way the virtual version of events went this year.

The conference wrapped up Tuesday with Crops Day.

Grey Agricultural Services event organizer Lorie Smith says they had 620 paid households register over the week.

She says that may actually surpass the average attendance in years past at the Elmwood Community Centre of about 750 people.

“We delivered basically as much content as we typically would through this new virtual environment. We could have taken an easy route and just had certain days or whatever. We didn’t do that. We went for the brass ring and I think we got a really good shiny one,” said Smith.

She says the success of the virtual format will likely enhance the conference in the coming years leading to a more hybrid event, reaching farmers on a national and international scale.

Smith adds a big thank you to all the sponsors and agri-businesses that stuck with Grey Bruce Farmers’ Week throughout the new format.
