It’s a wrap at Grey Bruce Farmers’ Week

Grey Bruce Farmers’ Week has wrapped up for another year.

The week long event in Elmwood had speakers and panels for different farm commodities each day.

It’s put on by Grey Agricultural Services.

Coordinator Laurie Smith says attendance this year likely will be up since the weather was decent. She says the speakers this year were especially informative.

“The speakers have all been tremendous. You put it together on a piece of paper with the help of the farmers in the area and you think it’s going to be good but when it actually comes to fruition and they’re even better than expected, that makes for a great week,” said Smith.

Grey Bruce Farmers’ Week also includes a trade show. Jeff Gerber of Trillium Mutual Insurance Company was among the more than 100 exhibitors.

“We feel that it’s really important to make sure that we have representation. We have a lot of farmers that we insure in this area and in southern and central Ontario. It gives us an opportunity to say hi and reconnect with out customers and broker partners,” said Gerber.

Lorie Smith says she and the other organizers are always looking for ways to make Grey Bruce Farmers’ Week bigger and better.
