The USDA’s newest cattle inventory numbers indicate placements in feedlots of a thousand or more in February were down 1 per cent from last year at 1.69 million head.

The total U.S. inventory for those lots to start March was at 10.8 million, the same as a month earlier.

Marketings continue to climb.

The 1.65 million marketed last month represent a 4 point gain on 2016.
