Public Comment Period Open For Care And Handling Of Veal

The public comment period on the draft Code of Practice for the Care and Handling of Veal Cattle is now open.
The Canadian Veal Association, along with the National Farm Animal Care Council are allowing producers, stakeholders and consumers to provide input for the final draft which will come out next fall.
President Robert Wynands says the CVA is committed to continually improving its high standards of caring for cattle.
He adds the Code Development Committee has been working on the update since 2014 and the input provided during the comment period will help ensure it meets reasonable requirements for all involved.
The association says the revised code will promote sound welfare and management practices for transportation, housing and animal husbandry.
The code is now accessible at www.nfacc.ca/codes-of-practice/veal-cattle.
