Eat Local Grey Bruce Co-op Receives Grant
Some funding is coming to Eat Local Grey Bruce.
The not-for-profit cooperative of food producers and consumers has been awarded a 50,000 dollar grant from the Greenbelt Fund to boost access to local foods.
The group says the grant will go to infrastructure and equipment costs, as well as staff salaries during its start-up phase.
The co-op anticipates a range of more than 250 local products from 30 producers will be available.
They’re offering home delivery in urban centres and group drop-offs in rural areas.
Eat Local Grey Bruce will hold its first annual general meeting this Saturday at St. George’s Anglican Church in Owen Sound.
Also that day, the public is invited to attend an open house from 3 to 4 p.m. at the cooperative’s warehouse, as well as a panel discussion at 7 p.m. in the evening.
