OMAFRA: Lack Of Rain Not Yet Critical For Provincial Corn Crop

The Corn Industry Lead with OMAFRA says corn in most of Southwestern Ontario is doing well at this point.
Ben Rosser says rainfall throughout the area has been below average and the situation seems worse along the north shore of Lake Erie.
Rosser adds a little rain soon would be helpful but it won’t be critical until the corn begins to tassle and that’s still a few weeks away.
Rosser says some of the corn that was planted early took a while to come up because there wasn’t much heat, but once the temperatures got closer to seasonal, the corn responded well.
