OASC Message To Politicians: Raise The RMP Funding Cap
Representatives from most of the non-supply managed farm sectors in Ontario met on the Brock Family Farm in West Perth this morning.
The Ontario Agriculture Sustainability Coalition members had a message for the province’s politicians.
Chair Henry van Ankum says they want the cap for the Risk Management Program raised to 175-million dollars.
The current cap is 100 million dollars a year.
The OASC members argue that’s not enough for the program to do the job it was designed to do.
They want the cap raised by 25 million dollars a year over the next three years.
OASC argues that higher cap will go a long way towards addressing their risks in the marketplace.
