USDA: U-S Winter Wheat Production Down

The USDA expects American winter wheat production to be down 9 per cent this year.

The department’s crop production report released today put the total forecast harvest at 1 point 4 billion bushels.

The report figures the average yield will be 43 point 1 bushels an acre – down 4 point 3 from last year.

American Hard Red Winter production is forecast to be up slightly, Soft Red Winter down 21 per cent and White Winter down 7 per cent from a year ago.
