Dr. Terry Daynard is this year’s Farm & Food Care Champion.

The award was presented at the recent Farm & Food Care Ontario annual general meeting in Milton.

Dr. Daynard is a retired crop science professor at the University Guelph and the former executive vice-president of the Ontario Corn Producers’ Association.

Daynard says he was surprised and humbled when hearing that he received the award.

After his family and his farm, Daynard says he is most proud of his work with AgCare – which later merged with the Ontario Farm Animal Council to become Farm and Food Care.

He continues to farm near Guelph and actively communicates about agriculture on his blog and on Twitter.

The award was created in 1999 to recognize individuals, organizations and businesses that have helped to inform the public or the agri-food industry about animal agriculture.

With the amalgamation of the industry groups, the award was renamed the Farm & Food Care Champion award.
