Huron is now the Ontario county with the largest number of sites with confirmed cases of PED.

4 more sites in the county were confirmed last week – bringing Huron’s total up to 11.

The provincial total went up by 5 in the past week to 52.

Among the other Midwestern Ontario counties – Bruce and Perth both have six confirmed sites, Wellington had one and no sites have been confirmed yet in Grey County.

The second-highest concentration in the province, after Huron’s 11, is Oxford county, with 9 sites.

Producers are being reminded that on-farm biosecurity is one of the best ways to prevent the spread of the disease.

PED is not considered to be a food safety threat or a threat to human health.
