Horse Racing Group Relieved At Funding Implementation

The provincial Horse Racing Partnership Plan went into effect this week.

Premier and Agriculture Minister Kathleen Wynne calls it a true partnership, with the involvement of government, industry, owners, breeders and track operators.

The President of the Ontario Horse Racing Industry Association, Sue Leslie, says they’re relieved funding is in place to begin stabilizing the industry.

The plan includes up to 500 million dollars in funding for the industry over the next five years.

That money is designed to help increase purses and race dates across the province, enhance support for the province’s racehorse breeders and increase operational support for regional tracks.
