The Plant Manger at Goderich Elevators says they’re not at the critical stage, yet.

But Calvin Kerr says they are looking forward to the ice melting on Lake Huron so they can start shipping grain.

He says things are starting to move at Sault Ste. Marie.

He’s expecting Lake Huron to be open for shipping within the next couple of weeks.

Kerr says he understands both Canadian and American icebreakers are making their way to the area.

He says Goderich Elevators has not yet felt the need to call them in to open up the shipping lane from the harbour.

Goderich Elevator Plant Manager Calvin Kerr expects the shipping season to start within a couple of weeks.

Kerr says they’re not too far behind, yet.
