Survey Suggests U-S Cattlemen More Confident Than Crop Growers
A recent survey suggests U-S farmer’s overall confidence remains unchanged since last March.
The survey was done by DTN – The Progressive Farmer.
It showed producers overall confidence at 106 point 9 – up slightly from last December and unchanged from March of last year.
100 is considered neutral – above is optimistic, below is pessimistic.
The survey had U-S farmers viewing their present conditions as positive at 128 point 1 – down about 7 points from a year ago.
Their future expectations remain pessimistic at 92 point 8 – up just over 4 points from last March.
DTN says there was a big difference in optimism between crop and livestock producers.
The survey reported livestock producers confidence at a near all-time high of 116 point 4 – up about 9 points from last March.
Crop producers posted their lowest confidence level in four years ag 102 point 7, down about 4 points from a year ago.
The DTN survey talked to 500 U-S producers between March 1st and March 10th.
