Dairy Traceability, Quality Assurance Projects Get Funding

Dairy industry traceability and quality assurance projects are getting federal funding.

416 thousand dollars is going to Dairy Farmers of Canada to design and implement a national traceability program for dairy cattle.

The money will also help fund updating of standards for milk producers to meet traceability requirements as well as training and help to implement the program at the producer level.

Another 529 thousand is going into the proAction Initiative.

DFC Vice-President David Wiens says that 10 year initiative demonstrates the industry’s continued commitment to customers to provide high-quality, safe Canadian milk and dairy products.

The initiative also includes on-farm pilot testing of assessment tools as well as producer training.
