Admirals beat Blades 5-2 in junior C action

Austin Jennings and Ty Moss each scored twice as the Amherstburg Integrity Admirals beat the Blades 5-2 in Blenheim Sunday night.

Both teams are now part of a five-way tie for second place with two points apiece. They also have identical 1-1 records in the fledging regular season.

Jennings scored the only goal in the opening period, on the power play at 8:49. He then doubled the Addys' lead with the first goal of the second period. The Blades scored back-to-back to tie the game at 2-2. Connor Wright scored on the power play at 11:10, then Brodie Conlon followed suit 82 seconds later. Amherstburg regained a two-goal lead before the second intermission with Moss' first score of the evening, followed by one from Kyle Meloche.

Moss scored his second goal of the night on the power play at 2:08 in the third frame. Things got a little rocky later in the period as Amherstburg's Josh Jacobs got himself an early shower with a game misconduct. Teammate Reid Stieler and Blenheim's Drew Marlatt got ten-minute misconducts as well.

Jared Ratko had 31 saves out of 33 attempts in goal for the Addys. Chris Dewulf was pulled from the Blades' goal late in the second period for Sean McNally. Together, they notched 24 saves out of 29 shots.

Amherstburg next travels to Mooretown on Saturday night. Blenheim hosts Petrolia next Sunday night.
