Jr. Hockey Wrap-Up - January 14, 2018

Two players scored twice for the Amherstburg Integrity Admirals in their 9-3 win over the Petrolia Flyers Sunday at the Libro Centre.

Amherstburg is in second place with 48 points in a tight PJHL Stobbs Division, one behind leader Essex. Petrolia is in sixth place with 27 points.

The Admirals scored four unanswered goals in the first period alone. Bryce McGregor opened the scoring at 3:08, followed less than three minutes later by Michael Hatch. Broden Meloche made the score 3-0 with a goal at 6:32 and Dean Patterson picked up one more for the Addys before the period ended.

Ryan Alexander continued the scoring onslaught at 3:50 of the second period to extend the score to 5-0 Amherstburg. Patterson then scored his second of the game 27 seconds later. Petrolia avoided the shutout when Cole MacKinnon scored a goal at 6:24, though Amherstburg got it back a little later when Ryan Holzel found the net. Curtis Helps got a score for the Flyers, but Caleb Paquette returned the favour for the Admirals before the second intermission.

Paquette scored his second goal of the game in the third period for Amherstburg. Carter Campbell managed a goal for Petrolia before regulation ended.

Jared Ratko picked up 26 saves for the Addys. Riley Collins was pulled from the Flyers net for Jakob Knowles. Together they had 28 saves.

Amherstburg travels to Wallaceburg Wednesday night. Petrolia hosts Wheatley Thursday.

The Mooretown Flags scored nine straight goals for a 9-1 win over the Blades in Blenheim.

The Flags are also in the midst of a close Stobbs race. They are in fourth place with 46 points. Blenheim is in seventh place with 26 points.

Ryan Lyle scored the first period's only goal to give the Flags a 1-0 lead after the opening 20 minutes.

The Blades tied the game at 1:37 in the second period when Lucas Fancy lit the lamp with a short-handed goal. Mooretown then broke the game open for the rest of the middle frame. Lyle scored his second goal of the game at 8:16, then Logan Gardner found the net over two minutes later. The Flags got three more goals before the second intermission, as Kyle Smith scored on the power play, Lyle completed his hat trick and Joe Stock rounded things out for a 6-1 Flags lead.

Mooretown refused to let up in the third period with three more family goals. Matt Sawatzky made the score 7-1, followed by Stock's second goal of the game. Garrett Miller threw another one in the net to conclude the scoring.

Nolan Hakr had 24 saves out of 25 tries in goal for the Flags. Eris Stewardson was pulled after two periods, and 15 saves for Blenheim. Sean McNally worked the third period and got nine saves out of 12.

The Flags host Dresden on Saturday. Blenheim welcomes the Kings next Sunday night.
