Spitfires Best 67s 4-3 in Overtime

Daniel D'Amico scored the overtime winner in the Windsor Spitfires' 4-3 win over the 67s in Ottawa Sunday.

The Spitfires now sit in third place in the OHL West Division with 47 points.

Ottawa got out to a good lead early, scoring two goals within the first six minutes of the contest. Austen Keating opened things up first for the 67s, followed by a goal from Merrick Rippon. Windsor got on the board before the first intermission when Igor Larionov Jr. scored his third goal of the season.

The Spits scored two in the second period to tie the game, then take the lead. Cole Purboo scored the equalizer on the power play at 43 seconds into the stanza. Chris Playfair's goal later in the period provided Windsor with a 3-2 lead after two frames.

Keating struck again in the third period to tie the game for the 67s. D'Amico's game-winner came at 2:36 in the extra period.

Michael DiPietro faced 32 shots in goal for Windsor, stopping 29 of them. Olivier Tremblay had 22 saves for Ottawa.

The Spitfires return to the WFCU Centre Thursday night and host the Sarnia Sting.
