The London Nationals got off to a strong start and maintained it in a 4-1 win at home over the LaSalle Vipers.

London is in second place in the Western Conference with 20 points, while LaSalle is in a three-way tie for third with 14.

Brandon Glover broke the scoreless tie at 9:25 in the opening frame for London. The score was 1-0 Nationals until Carson Brookshaw doubled that lead in the second period for London.

Jack Webb's goal at 38 ticks into the third period extended the Nationals lead to 3-0. The Vipers avoided the shutout near the midway point of the frame when Manny Silverio scored on the power play. Glover added his second goal of the evening to seal the London win.

David Ovsjannikov stopped all but one of LaSalle's 21 shots in goal for the Nationals. The Vipers' Dershahn Stewart had 36 saves in the loss.

The Nationals host St. Thomas Wednesday night. The Vipers take on the Maroons in Chatham Sunday night.

The Mooretown Flags struck first and beat the Wheatley Omstead Sharks 3-2 at home.

The Flags have 18 points in the PJHL Stobbs Division standings, second place behind the Lakeshore Canadiens.

Ryan Lyle connected for the Flags late in the first period, scoring on the power play at 18:27.

The second period was a case of "I score, you score", as both teams exchanged goals. Alex Mosher tied the game for the Sharks at 1:25 on an unassisted goal. Mooretown regained the lead just past the halfway point of the period on a power-play goal from Kyle Smith. That lead did not last long, as Jake Pickersgill scored shorthanded for Wheatley a little over two minutes later. Lyle struck again for the Flags to give Mooretown a 3-2 lead before the second intermission.

There was no scoring in the third period but there were plenty of penalty minutes to go around. Mooretown's Cameron Rannie and Wheatley's Kyle Gagnon each received ten-minute misconducts for inciting the opponent.  The Sharks' Dawson Iles got an early shower with an abuse-of-officials misconduct, as did Wheatley head coach Dave Wiper.

Jake Wilkins had 30 saves in goal for Mooretown, while Dylan Zelko saved 58 shots in the loss for Wheatley.

The Sharks host Lakeshore Monday night, and the Flags travel to Wallaceburg Wednesday.
