Sharks Nip Amherstburg on Turkey Day 4-1

The Wheatley Sharks scored four unanswered goals in their 4-1 win over the Amherstburg Admirals at home Thanksgiving night.

It was the fourth straight win for the Sharks, who are in sixth place in the PJHL Stobbs Division with nine points. Amherstburg is in eighth place with six points.

The first period was scoreless and Wheatley had two failed power play chances during the frame. The Sharks outshot the Addys 11-8 in the first.

Amherstburg got on the board first at 1:04 in the second period with goal from Josh Talerico. Cory Burns and Austin Jennings had assists. Wheatley tied the game up later in the period on a power-play goal from Justin Pinsonneault.

The Sharks scored three straight, unassisted goals in the third, provided in order by Carter Mastronardi, Parker Boyle and Ryan Zsebok.

Daniel Tonietto stopped all but one of Amherstburg's 30 shots. Catalin Morin took the loss in goal for the Admirals and notched 27 saves.

Amherstburg travels to Petrolia Thursday night, while Wheatley hosts Wallaceburg October 16.
