Jr. Hockey Wrap-Up - September 17, 2017

Ryan Alexander scored three goals in the Amherstburg Integrity Admirals' 5-3 victory over the Petrolia Flyers Sunday.

This kicked off the Admirals' season at the Libro Centre in Amherstburg, and it was the second straight loss to start the season for Petrolia.

Alexander's first goal of the night and a score from teammate Caleb Paquette within a minute of each other gave the Addys a 2-0 lead. Connor Lovell got a goal back for Petrolia, but Alexander struck again before the first intermission to give Amherstburg a 3-1 lead.

The Flyers tied up the game in the second period with goals from Eric Campbell and Eric Marsh, though Amherstburg regained the lead 14 seconds before the end of the period with a Dylan Muzzatti goal. Alexander provided insurance on the power play in the third period to complete the hat trick.

Catalin Morin had the win between the pipes for the Addys with 23 saves. Jakob Knowles had 34 saves in a losing effort for Petrolia.

Amherstburg travels to Essex Tuesday night to face the 73s while Petrolia hosts Mooretown Thursday.

Christian Moccia notched a hat trick as the Blenheim Blades beat the Wallaceburg Lakers 13-1 Sunday.

It was the home opener for the Blades, who scored a whopping nine goals in the middle period to put the game away early. Goaltender Josh Loranger was pulled midway through the second period for Kyle Koopmans.

Moccia's first goal came at 1:44 in the opening period, and Wallaceburg's Zachary Hartig tied the score at one-all later in the frame. It would be the only offence the Lakers would muster. Wallaceburg had four power play chances in the first period. Interestingly, there were no penalties called on either side the rest of the game.

The scoring onslaught was on in the second. Lucas Fancy had two unassisted goals. Nick Delyzer also had two. Scoring was also done for Blenheim by Derek Hueni, Carter Wright, Ryan Malott, Ethan Paxton and Austin Bentley.

Moccia scored two more goals in the third period to finish the hat trick. Bryce Beard also connected for Blenheim.

Eric Stewardson stopped all but one of Wallaceburg's 22 shots in goal. The Blades travel to Wheatley Monday night while the Lakers host Dresden on Wednesday.
