Spitfires Trade for Defenceman

The Windsor Spitfires have traded for a defenceman.

The Memorial Cup champions announced Friday afternoon that they have acquired defenceman Hunter Carrick from the Ottawa 67s. The Spitfires are sending in return a conditional pick, their fourth round draft selection in 2023, once Carrick suits up for Windsor. The two teams also exchanged their 14th round picks in 2020 to complete the transaction.

Carrick, 17, was an 11th round pick for Ottawa in 2016. The 6', 183 pound native of Orchard Park, Illinois and is the brother of Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Connor Carrick.

Carrick has played in Michigan the past two seasons, with the Oakland Junior Grizzlies. In 2016-17, he had seven goals and 12 assists in 31 games.

He will be invited to the Spitfires' training camp, which opens on August 28 at the WFCU Centre.
