Spits Primed For First Game

The puck drops in the first game of the Memorial Cup Tournament tonight at 7pm.

The Windsor Spitfires will face the Saint John Sea Dogs, winners of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

Spitfires Head Coach Rocky Thompson says, with six weeks off, the team is prepped and ready to take on any opponent.

"They're prepared, they're ready and it's time to go have fun. When you do all the work and all the preparation you don't have to think about the game when you go on the ice, you just got to go and play it and play it hard and our guys are ready to do it," says Thompson.

Thompson says for the first time all season the team has a full roster without any injuries and that will give them an advantage.

"We're just better as a unit. We got more resources now throughout our lineup. We don't have to over play certain individuals like we had to during that time. Guys are healed," says Thompson. "There's no negatives in our game, everything is positive. Having a figure like Logan Stanley come back, who is not only a leader and a strong player, but he is arguably the best defensive defenceman that teams will have to face."
