Express Close Out Regular Season With Win

Juan Pattillo got a double-double as the Windsor Express beat the Titans in Kitchener Saturday night 103-97.

It was the regular-season finale for the Express, who finish second in the NBL Canada Central Division standings with a 21-18 record, the fourth-best record in the league.  It was also a preview game of sorts for the two teams, as they will face each other in the first round of the NBLC playoffs next week.

Pattillo led the Express with 22 points, shooting ten-for-17 from the field.  He also led in defence with 16 rebounds.

Warren Ward had an additional 18 points for the Express and eight rebounds, while Shaquille Keith picked up 16 points and eight boards and shot four-for-five from the free-throw line.

Adam Blazek led Kitchener-Waterloo with 15 points, plus six rebounds and seven assists.  Ed Horton, Tramar Sutherland and Flenard Whitfield each had 14 points for the Titans.  George Blackney led in defence with 13 rebounds.

Windsor got off to a strong start in the first half of the game and led at halftime by a 48-42 score.  Kitchener-Waterloo rebounded and tightened the game in the third quarter, but the Express pulled away again in the fourth to close the regular season with a victory.

Both the Express and Titans now prepare for the first round of the playoffs.  Windsor will host Kitchener-Waterloo for Game 1 on Friday at the Atlas Tube Centre in Lakeshore.  Tip off is 7pm.
