Team Canada Moving Practice To Smaller Rink

Canada's women's hockey team is requesting a venue change for its practice game, which could cause line-ups at the Leamington Kinsmen Recreation Complex.

Leamington Mayor John Paterson tells BlackburnNews.com that Tuesday night's game against the Lakeshore Canadiens will now be played at Unico rink instead of the Highbury Canco arena.

That means only 600 people will be allowed in, compared to the 1,500 who were able to view a recent practice at the Highbury Canco ice pad.

Paterson says the request was made because the Unico ice surface is the same size as what the team will be playing on in Michigan during the Women's World Hockey Championship.

Tonight's practice game starts at 7:30pm.  Doors to the Unico rink will open at 6pm.

The Women's World Hockey Championship kicks off this Friday with Canada taking on the US.
