Vipers Beat Flyers 4-2, Take 2-1 Series Lead

Liam MacDougall and Daniel Beaudoin had a goal and an assist each as the LaSalle Vipers beat the Leamington Flyers 4-2 at the Vollmer Complex.

This gives the Vipers a 2-1 lead in their GOJHL Western Conference semifinal series.  Game 4 is Sunday in Leamington.

Blake Bain opened the scoring for the Flyers with the opening period's only goal, assisted by Liam Hogan and Parker Jacques.  The first period was also a lively one, with the Vipers' Frank Zak and the Flyers' Nicolas Mainella each receiving game misconducts for fighting.  LaSalle's Dede Cato also got an early shower thanks to a game misconduct for head contact.

LaSalle tied the game, then took the lead in the second period.  MacDougall shot the equalizer into the net on the power play at just 55 seconds into the frame.  Brett Banwell's goal later in the period provided the Vipers with a 2-1 lead at second intermission.

Leamington tied the game at two each at the start of the third period with a goal from Hogan.   Later, the Vipers' Manny Silverio had a power play score that put LaSalle ahead for good.  Beaudoin scored a short-handed, empty net insurance goal before regulation expired.

Eli Billing was the winning goalie, stopping 27 Leamington shots.  Connor Meyerink had 26 saves for the Flyers.
