UPDATE: Damage Estimated At $200K After House Fire

Windsor fire officials say a blaze that sent a woman to hospital in serious condition is not considered suspicious.

The Windsor Fire and Rescue Service says on Saturday around 6pm, fire crews were called to 496 Caron Ave. where the fire had reportedly spread through the lower unit of the duplex.

Fire officials now say the blaze started in the laundry room in the lower unit of the duplex.

Investigators from the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office attended the scene on Monday, but the cause of the fire remains unknown pending further tests.

Fire damage to the building is estimated at $150,000, with another $50,000 in damages caused to contents within the home.

As of Monday, one woman remained in hospital is serious condition. Two other people have been displaced as a result of the fire.
