Express Nipped by River Lions 94-86

Chris Commons scored 22 points against his former team as the Niagara River Lions beat the Windsor Express Monday afternoon 94-86 at the Meridian Centre.

Commons, who played for the Express from the 2012-13 season to 2015-16, also had six rebounds for Niagara and was 10-for-12 from the free throw line.

The Express have now begun the season at 1-3 following the loss, while the River Lions improve to 2-2.

The game was relatively close throughout the first half, with Niagara holding onto a 44-38 lead over Windsor at halftime.  The score would be tied at the end of the third quarter at 68-all but Niagara took the edge into the fourth quarter and come away with the victory.

Marcus Lewis added 18 points for Niagara and six rebounds, while Josiah Moore led the River Lions with 11 rebounds.

The Express next travel to Kitchener on Jan 10 to take on the Titans.
