Jr. Hockey Wrap Up - December 10, 2016

Manny Silverio picked up a goal and an assist as the LaSalle Vipers beat the London Nationals 4-3 Saturday night in junior B competition at Western Fair Community Centre.

The win puts more distance between the Vipers and the Nationals in the GOJHL Western Conference standings, as LaSalle maintains its first-place showing.

Nathan Savage put the Vipers on the board first with the only goal in the first period.  Silverio then added a power-play goal at 4:27 of the second period to make the score 2-0 Vipers.  London would get two back-to-back goals in the second, as Ethan Nother got a power play goal of his own at 8:05.  Adam Sinclair got the equalizer for the Nationals at 16:14, though LaSalle's Maddux Rychel would put the Vipers ahead again at second intermission.

In the third period, Nother scored his second goal of the night at 8:45.  Just 33 seconds later, LaSalle's Brett Primeau would knock the puck in for the game winner.

Eli Billing stopped 42 out of 45 London shots in goal for the Vipers, who host St. Thomas Wednesday night.  The Nationals travel to Lambton Shores Sunday.

The Lakeshore Canadiens and Mooretown Flags skated to a 2-2 tie Saturday night in Mooretown.

The Canadiens maintain their second-place showing in the PJHL Stobbs Division standings.

Landon Wilson got the first goal for Mooretown at 6:57.  The Canadiens would get their two goals in the second period off the sticks of Brandon Ireland and Connor Rosaasen.  Mooretown would knot it up in the third period with a Matt Brandon goal, and the overtime period came and went without another goal.

Lakeshore travels to Essex Tuesday night while Mooretown plays host to Blenheim next Saturday night.
