Essex Doubles Up Wheatley 4-2

Riley Meyerink had the go-ahead goal near the midway point of the third period as the Essex 73's defeated the Wheatley Sharks in Wheatley 4-2.

Tyler Ryan was the winning goalie for the 73's, turning away 21 of Wheatley's 23 shots.

David Cook opened the scoring for Essex at 3:30 into the first period with a goal assisted by Anthony Cristofaro.  Neither team was called for a penalty in the opening period.

The Sharks would tie it up in the second period with Delaney MacDonald, but the 73s would regain the lead two and half minutes later on a power-play score from William Stadder.

Wheatley evened things up again in the third period as Andreas Grossman found the net at 5:10.  Meyerink would score what turned out to be the winning goal at 6:59.  Tyler Shaw provided insurance later in the period to seal the win.

Eric Shaw got two assists for the 73s.

The 73s have a quick turnaround, hosting Petrolia Tuesday night.  The Sharks travel to the Atlas Tube Centre Friday to take on the Lakeshore Canadiens.
