Junior Hockey Wrap Up: March 9, 2016

The LaSalle Vipers struggled again to gain any separation in their series with Sarnia, falling 8-5 to the Legionnaires.

The Sarnia win once again ties the quarter-final playoff series, which now stands at 2-2. Bursts of Viper offence bookended Sarnia's consistent offence, with the Legionnaires scoring three straight unanswered goals two times over the course of the game.

Brandon Layman led the way for Sarnia with one goal and three assists. For the Vipers, Brett Primeau scored two goals and an assist of his own. Game five of the series goes Wednesday night in LaSalle at 7pm.

Meanwhile, the Essex 73 took game one of the Great Lakes Junior C Hockey Finals over the Amherstburg Integrity Admirals in a 5-2 contest.

After a back-and-forth contest through the first half of the game, Essex opened the floodgates to score three unanswered goals from Brett Vorshuk, Cody Leeming and Max Viselli.

Game two of the Great Lakes Championship goes Thursday at 7pm in Amherstburg.
