Windsor police chases lead to several charges

A Windsor woman has been arrested after allegedly taking police on two pursuits when a vehicle was stolen.

Police said a woman stole a vehicle at Tecumseh Road and Marentette Avenue on Friday morning when citizens cornered a man suspected of breaking into a garage at Marentette Avenue and Hanna Street just minutes before. Investigators said she was sitting on the same bus stop bench next to the break and enter suspect, walked past the citizens as they arrived and drove off with a vehicle. Officers were informed of the vehicle theft when they arrived and began chasing it but said they called it off in the interest of public safety because the driver made no attempt to stop.

Soon after, police got another call from a man reporting a woman was trying to steal his vehicle at South Cameron Boulevard and Arcadia Street but she took off in the original stolen vehicle as officers arrived. They stopped it briefly before the vehicle sped off again. The pursuit was again discontinued in the interest of public safety but minutes later the stolen vehicle was found and contained in a parking lot at Tecumseh Road and Church Street. A woman was then arrested after a brief struggle.

Jessica Bradley, 39, from Windsor, is charged with theft of a motor vehicle, failing to stop for police, dangerous driving, resisting arrest, possession of stolen property and attempting to steal another motor vehicle. A 37-year-old Windsor man was also arrested earlier after officers allegedly found break and enter tools on him.
