If your parents told you never to play in the street, the city of Windsor says you can on Sunday.
The city will close off several of its main arteries over an eight kilometre stretch as Open Streets Windsor is celebrated. The purpose of the street bonanza is to encourage people to get out and walk, run, bike and enjoy the city's neighbourhoods. Sunday's event will be the fourth Open Streets in Windsor.
The route begins at Brock in Olde Sandwich Towne and follows Sandwich St. to University Ave W. It continues along University to Glengarry Ave, moves to Wyandotte St. E. and finishes on Drouillard Rd.
There will once again be several activity areas along the route, with businesses and organizations set up on the street, along with activities and live entertainment. The activity centres will be in Olde Sandwich Towne, near the University of Windsor, a food area along University Ave. W., Healthy Communities at University and Crawford Ave., downtown, Wyandotte Town Centre, Walkerville and Ford City.
For drivers wanting to get to either side of the Open Streets route, there are these 11 crossover points maintained by traffic lights.

In addition to the action on the streets Sunday, Doors Open Windsor continues, as some area institutions will open their doors and welcome the public for tours and events.
