Herman High student suffers head injuries in assault

The Windsor Police Major Crimes Unit is investigating after a 14-year-old boy suffered severe head injuries in an assault earlier this week.

It happened around 11:20 a.m. Wednesday on Rossini Boulevard near the John Atkinson Memorial Community Centre, not far from W.F. Herman Academy.

Two boys were walking through an alley when a group of other boys approached them. One suspect accused one victim of making derogatory comments. He then allegedly assaulted the victim, knocking him to the ground, and there was a fight.

The victim was taken to Windsor Regional Hospital where he was transferred to a hospital in London for treatment. A second boy suffered minor injuries.

Officers identified the suspects, and two teenaged boys face aggravated assault and assault charges. Since the boys are under the age of 18, they cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Windsor Police at 519-255-6700 ext. 4830, Crime Stoppers at 519-258-8477, or leave a tip online at www.catchcrooks.com.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help Jayden Trudell Neroda's family with his expenses. The page also has a graphic video of the fight.
