Same man charged in Windsor stabbing and murder

Two Windsor teens have been charged with first-degree murder in connection with a fatal shooting in Walkerville over the weekend.

Police were dispatched to a home on Hall Avenue between Assumption Street and Riverside Drive on Saturday at approximately 1:35 a.m. for a report of an injured person. Darrion Moffatt, 18, of Windsor had been shot. He died of his injuries Monday afternoon.

Windsor police arrested Raul Huezo, 18, from Windsor at a hotel on Ouellette Avenue near Eugenie Street on Wednesday. Cody Kennedy, 19, from Windsor has been in police custody since Saturday afternoon. Police said there are no other murder suspects but the homicide remains under active investigation.

Huezo is also charged with aggravated assault after a stabbing in downtown Windsor August 6. Police say a 22-year-old man was stabbed near Ouellette Avenue and Park Street and was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Investigators say the victim was being a Good Samaritan when he asked a man being followed by two other men in a threatening manner if he was okay. Authorities say that's when one of the suspect's pulled out a knife and stabbed him.

None of the allegations have been proven in court.

Anyone with information about the murder is asked to contact Windsor Police Service at 519-255-6700 ext. 4830, Crime Stoppers anonymously at 519-258-8477 (TIPS), or online at www.catchcrooks.com.
