Suspect flees after stolen vehicle involved in two crashes

The Ontario Provincial Police has arrested a suspect after a stolen vehicle was involved in two separate crashes; one in Windsor and one in Tecumseh.

Provincial police were called to the corner of Tecumseh Road and Shawnee Road in Tecumseh around 6:15 p.m. Monday after a crash.

The white four-door car was found heavily damaged, and the driver was nowhere to be seen.

During their investigation, officers discovered the vehicle had been stolen and was involved in a collision earlier in the evening at Forest Glade Drive and Eastcourt Drive in Windsor.

Eventually, officers tracked the suspect down to a home on Shawnee Rd. just up the street from the crash in Tecumseh.

The OPP Emergency Response Team, the K9 Unit, uniformed patrol officers from the OPP, and Windsor police contained the area. Officers from the K9 Unit arrested the man outside the home, and he was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Police have not released the suspect's name.

Police are still investigating the incident. Anyone with information should call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, or leave a message online at www.catchcrooks.com.
