UPDATE: Windsor Apartment House Fire Causes $200K In Damage

Investigators say a Thursday morning apartment fire in Windsor caused damage to three units.

The blaze at the building on Meadowbrook Lane near Hawthorne Dr. caused a total of $200,000 in damage.

Windsor Fire and Rescue says crews were called to the building around 5am. The fire apparently began in a basement unit. Crews were able to quickly get the fire under control and it was declared out within 30 minutes.

All of the residents got out safely and there were no injuries.

An investigator was on scene later Thursday morning to determine the cause. It was revealed that a defective cord in a bedroom was the culprit.

The damage to the basement unit was estimated at $60,000. There was also an additional $140,000 in damage to two of the units above it, along with smoke damage in the hallways, according to fire officials.
