Newlyweds Safe In Windsor House Blaze

Windsor Fire and Rescue say a couple, married the day before. were unhurt in an early morning house fire.

It happened around 1:30am Monday. Crews were called to a home on Woodward Blvd. near Moxlay Ave., near Devonwood Conservation Area.

The couple, who had celebrated their wedding reception in the backyard the day before, were sorting through gifts when they noticed something was terribly wrong.

Firefighters arrived to find the fire in the garage, with heavy smoke on the second floor of the home. Crews were soon able to bring the fire under control.

Extensive fire damage was shown to the garage, the second floor and the attic. A fire investigator arrived on scene early Monday morning to determine how the fire got started.

It was the second house fire in Windsor within 24 hours. Fire crews were called to a home on Reginald St. Sunday.

The newlyweds and their family got out unharmed.

As of Monday afternoon, the cause of the blaze is undetermined, according to fire officials. Damage is estimated at $225,000 to the structure plus $100,000 to the contents.
