UPDATE: Two Sunday House Fires In Windsor

Fire crews in Windsor tackled two house fires Sunday.

Windsor Fire and Rescue says the first took place around 2:45am on Aristotle near 6th Concession Rd. The fire began in a basement laundry room and eventually became so intense that the siding on the home next door was damaged.

The family living at the home was not there at the time.

Investigators say there was $200,000 in damage to the home and an additional $75,000 to the contents.

The cause of that fire is undetermined.

Later Sunday, crews were called to a semi-detached home on Elmwood Crescent near Forest Glade Drive.

Heavy smoke, flames and high heat were also reported. When firefighters reached the location shortly before 3pm, the basement was involved.

Fire officials say the blaze was brought under control a few minutes after 3:30pm, and it was declared out roughly an hour after crews were called.

There were no injuries in the second fire.

The cause in that blaze was determined to be a malfunctioning light fixture. About $150,000 in damage to the home and $50,000 to the contents. Two people have been displaced, according to Windsor Fire.

The neighbouring home suffered about $10,000 in damage as the flames burned siding on it. The resident in that home is also displaced.
