Holt: 'I Think We've Done A Fantastic Job'

Another Windsor city councillor wants to try for another four years.

Ward 4 incumbent Chris Holt filed nomination papers for a second term on council Monday morning, then met with reporters outside the Walker Power Building development in Walkerville.

Holt said he wants to continue laying the groundwork for positive change that was set during his term.

"Obviously I want to be there at the table," said Holt. "I think we've done a fantastic job. I think I've done a lot of good influential work at City Hall, and I think I'm the best candidate to move forward and really build on what we've done so far. So I have a lot of hope."

Holt said he's running again so he can continue his focus of creating vibrant neighbourhoods, such as Walkerville and the downtown core.

"All the policy changes that I have been working at making, all the improvements to strengthen neighbourhoods and communities, has led to this point," said Holt. "Bringing those to fruition gives people confidence, gives residents confidence to come in and live in the downtown core."

The candidate used the Walker Power Building development as a backdrop to show the kind of development happening in the area. The building, which has been vacant since 2001, is being transformed into a space that will include offices, along with possible retail, restaurant and event space.

Holt is the latest incumbent councillor to file for re-election. Fred Francis, John Elliott, Ed Sleiman, and Jo-Anne Gignac are also running.

So far, Holt is running unopposed in Ward 4.
