Natyshak Demands Premier Ford Widen Hwy. 3 Immediately

Essex MPP Taras Natyshak plans to hold incoming Premier Doug Ford accountable to his promise to widen Hwy. 3 after another crash on the road in Kingsville Wednesday morning.

The Ontario Provincial Police say five people were involved in a four-vehicle collision on Hwy. 3 between County Rd. 27 and County Rd. 29 Wednesday. Two of those people were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The highway was closed for 90 minutes, and the investigation into the collision continues.

In his letter to Ford, Natyshak writes, "the people of Essex County cannot wait any longer. You say your priority is ending environmental programs -- but the people of my community are being hurt and are afraid to let their teens and young adult children drive. Their priority is not cuts -- their priority is the safety of their family and their neighbours."

Natyshak points to a comment Ford made in Leamington during the election campaign where he promised to "make sure there's never an accident on there again. Not a year down the road, but immediately."

Natyshak's letter continues, "I am calling on you to immediately direct the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure Ontario to begin construction on this long overdue, studied and shovel-ready project."

Ford will be sworn in during a ceremony on the steps of the Ontario Legislature Friday morning.
