Windsor Police Appeal For Information In Homicide

Windsor police are looking to the public for help as officers continue to investigate the murder of a Windsor woman.

The WPS Major Crimes Unit has released the name and photo of the female victim of a recent homicide, in the hopes that it will help jog people's memories and generate information in the case.

The woman has been identified as 31-year-old Autumn Taggart, and is also known as Maya Mandolyn.

Police were called to an apartment house on University Ave. W at McKay Ave. at 8pm on June 10, on a report of a sudden death in one of the units.

The death was first classified as suspicious and later confirmed as a homicide.

Sergeant Steve Betteridge says the woman's 9-year-old child is believed to have been home at the time of the murder.

Police are setting up a command post near the scene on Saturday between 10am and 6pm, and will be canvassing the area in hopes of getting information that will help them determine exactly what happened.

The public is reminded that even a small piece of information that may seem insignificant may be the key to solving the crime.

Anyone with information is asked to stop by the command post at the scene on Saturday, or call Windsor police at (519) 255-6700, ext. 4830.
