Hydrant Flushing May Make Your Water Look Funny

ENWIN Utilities has a warning for residents living in Central Windsor; your tap water may look a little funny, but it is still safe.

The utility is continuing its annual water system flushing program.

Over the next six weeks, it'll be flushing hydrants in the area from the Detroit River to the north, south to the E.C. Row, Janette Ave., Elm Ave., and Dougall Ave. to the west, and to the east, Howard Ave.

The last area it flushed was in the area bounded by the Detroit River, Tecumseh Rd., Prince Rd. and Wellington Rd.

The new stage starts Monday and should wrap up by July 30.

Flushing takes place between 8am and 3:30pm.

ENWIN recommends residents fill some containers with water to use during the day, avoid doing laundry during those times, try not to run hot water because that may draw discoloured water into your water heater, and run the taps for a few minutes to get rid of the sediment.
