Fight Night In Downtown Windsor

Tempers appeared to be rising with the heat in downtown Windsor Saturday night.

Windsor police say they responded to no fewer than 14 calls involving assaults or people fighting in the city from Saturday night into Sunday morning. Eleven of those calls came from the downtown core.

The calls were reported roughly between 9pm Saturday and 3:30am Sunday, according to the complaint log provided by Windsor police.

Fights were the reason behind nine of the calls with two involving weapons, police say. The rest were logged as assaults that had just occurred.

Officers were particularly busy during two stretches of the night. Three incidents in the downtown area, mainly near drinking establishments, were responded to in a 44-minute span beginning at 12:24am Sunday. Four more were reported within an hour and three minutes starting at 2:05am.

Police have released no additional information, but it does not appear any of the incidents are connected. There were also no confirmed reports of injuries requiring medical attention.
