Tecumseh Encourages Healthy Lifestyles

Windsor-Essex residents are being encouraged to power off and play.

The Town of Tecumseh celebrated the 5th anniversary of the region’s county wide active transportation systems this week.

It held a mayor's walk and unveiled a beautiful tree carving at Lakewood Park featuring French explorers LaSalle and Cadillac.

Tecumseh Mayor Gary McNamara says Tecumseh is committed to continue adding more walking and cycling trails across town and linking them to other trails across Essex County.

"Power off and play is our focus this summer. I encourage you to power off your electronic devices and get outside and play," says McNamara.

St. Piux X elementary students joined councillors for this year’s walking event. They also took "the potato couch pledge" to get active and stay active.

McNamara says Tecumseh is committed to supporting healthy lifestyles.

"Go for a run, take a walk, enjoy a stroll or pedal your bike using a CWATS trail and community park," he says.

McNamara says Tecumseh has made great strides adding trails over the last five years.

"The Town of Tecumseh is extremely proud of the strides we have made towards active transportation in our community and most notably the construction of the off road trail to connect Vista Academy to McAuliffe Park," McNamara says.
