LaSalle Strawberry Festival In Full Swing

Windsor-Essex's summer festival season continues with another tradition.

The annual LaSalle Strawberry Festival takes place this weekend at Gil Maure Park.

The 31st event kicked off Thursday evening and runs through Sunday, featuring a carnival, entertainment every evening, and of course, strawberries.

The carnival operates Friday and Saturday until 11:30pm, and from 9:30am to 4:30pm Sunday.

Among the entertainment highlights, the Christine Palazzolo Band performs at 8:30pm, followed by a fireworks display over the Detroit River. At 10:30pm, guitarist Christian Vegh is scheduled to play.

Saturday is parade day, with the march kicking off at 10am and running on Front Rd. from the Turkey Creek Bridge to Sacred Heart Drive. Front Rd. will be closed between Victory St. and Morton Rd. from 9am to noon with detour signs posted.

Also set for Saturday are performances by Destroyer Canada and Pop Cherry.

The festival concludes on Sunday with Family Day. A fishing derby begins at 7am and runs till noon, and a strawberry-eating contest takes place at 1:30pm.

The complete schedule of events is available on the town of LaSalle's official website.
