Gretzky Victorious With 52% Of The Vote In Windsor West

NDP incumbent Lisa Gretzky has been re-elected as the MPP for Windsor-West.

Gretzky is surprised the PC's formed a majority government after the polls showed a much closer race.

"I think in four years time we are going to increase our seat count again and you just might see an NDP government," says Gretzky.

Windsor NDP supporters are happy with their party results because the party doubled its seats from the last election.

Gretzky says her top priority is to ensure workers are protected as Ford service cuts loom large.

"He claims that cutting at least $6-billion and looking at every single ministry and leaving no stone unturned and then telling the people of this province that it means no job cuts, I think that people across the province are going to see that that's not entirely truthful," she says.

Gretzky says Andrea Horwath should stay as NDP leader because the results are better than the last election.

"In every election since she's been leader we have actually added seats or maintained the seat count. We have now added more seats and have become the official opposition," Gretzky says.

Gretzky got 20,276 votes, PC Adam Ibrahim received 11,073 votes, Liberal Rino Bortolin got 5,762 and Krysta Glovasky-Ridsdale of the Greens received 1,393 votes.
